#CoverLoveMondays: Illusions of Fate by Kiersten White

Check out ILLUSIONS OF FATE on Goodreads!

Purchase on Barnes & Noble and Amazon!

Find Kiersten White: Website/Goodreads/Twitter/Facebook

We often spend our time searching through the interweb, bookstore, and library for books and your first attraction to picking up a book to browse through is the cover. The old saying, "Don't judge a book by it's cover," doesn't really work with books =P Covers are designed to lure people in while the synopsis makes readers want to take your book home ;) So since we love all things prettyfuls and sparkly and shiny and dark, we decided to share our love with some of the AWESOME covers of books we find!

OUR THOUGHTS: The cover for Kiersten White's book that came out earlier this year ILLUSIONS OF FATE is GORGEOUS! The mysterious girl in the background. The crystal studded ring on her finger. The teacup with the black birds flying out and what seems to be a village drawn inside. The cover is so well-detailed; all the colors compliment each other. The shadowy background adds intrigue and the glowing title gives it that right pop feel that wraps everything together. We want to read the book just to discover more understanding of the cover!

#WaitingOnWednesday: Ticker by Lisa Mantchev

Ticker

Author: Lisa Mantchev

Add on Goodreads!

Pre-order as an Audio Book on Barnes & Noble or as a hard copy on Amazon!

Synopsis: A girl with a clockwork heart must make every second count.

When Penny Farthing nearly dies, brilliant surgeon Calvin Warwick manages to implant a brass “Ticker” in her chest, transforming her into the first of the Augmented. But soon it’s discovered that Warwick killed dozens of people as he strove to perfect another improved Ticker for Penny, and he’s put on trial for mass murder.

On the last day of Warwick’s trial, the Farthings’ factory is bombed, Penny’s parents disappear, and Penny and her brother, Nic, receive a ransom note demanding all of their Augmentation research if they want to see their parents again. Is someone is trying to destroy the Farthings…or is the motive more sinister?

Desperate to reunite their family and rescue their research, Penny and her brother recruit fiery baker Violet Nesselrode, gentleman-about-town Sebastian Stirling, and Marcus Kingsley, a young army general who has his own reasons for wanting to lift the veil between this world and the next. Wagers are placed, friends are lost, romance stages an ambush, and time is running out for the girl with the clockwork heart.

Our Thoughts: As HUUUUUGE fans of Lisa Mantchev since her release of the Theatre Illuminata Trilogy, we have been waiting for her to release a new book! So you could imagine when the announcement was made that Mantchev would be releasing TICKER in December, all the squealing and dancing around that caused! The cover is GORGEOUS with an air of dark mystery which made us instantly demand we have to read this book as soon as it comes out! TICKER sounds like a mixture between Iron Man and Sherlock Holmes which only makes us want to read it even more! With murder, a kidnapping mystery to solve, possible delicious male leads to swoon after, and a girl with a clockwork heart, this book has all the makings of great intrigue we cannot wait to devour!
