About the Author

I am blessed with a husband that makes me laugh every single day. I enjoy early evening walks with our Aussie, Delilah, and find beauty in music and books. Some may call me the quiet one at first, but until you know I love heart-to-heart convo’s, dancing like a fool, and riding the merry-go-round, you don’t know ME.

Synopsis: “I could see it in his eyes—he wanted to be the prince who rode up on his horse and saved the day. But I was no princess, and my Prince Charming had come and gone. I couldn’t survive losing another to dragon’s fire. Or to my own poisonous touch.”

Reeling from a traumatic and heart-shattering night, Scarlett Rossi escapes back to her hometown, a place that never changes, though nothing about her is the same. The new Scar is fierce. Untouchable. And resolved to bury the twisted nightmares of that horrible night… the night when everything was stolen from her… the night that divided her life into two: before him, and after.

When do-gooder Vance Holloway makes it his personal mission to cheer up the new girl at work, he has no idea what he’s getting himself into. Scarlett’s tough shell and spicy attitude doesn’t fool him. He knows deep down, that sweet, innocent smile still exists, and he’ll stop at nothing to prove it. Patience, persistence, and a little ice cream pay off. Slowly they become friends. Then best friends. Then more. Only one problem: he was never supposed to fall in love.

So begins an explosive tryst of pull and resistance, between one worthy white knight, and the damsel who doesn’t want to be saved. Scarlett won’t survive another heartbreak, but can their friendship survive a compromise?

If Vance is so determined to break down these walls, he’ll have to learn—just as she did—that when it comes to things like trust and love, there are always consequences.

Because the last man that she loved swore to protect her, then paid with his life. And took with him a piece of her soul.

Now Scarlett must decide if true strength means guarding her heart, or surrendering to it once more. One final secret remains: what really happened the night she swore she’d never love another man, and whose hands are stained with his blood?

SNEAK PEEK!

If I kept moving, maybe the uneasiness spiraling in my stomach would dissipate.

Wouldn’t be that lucky. An awkward silence lingered the moment Trevor’s Outlander gunned away from the curb.

“Do you go to Nuts and Jolts often?” A. J. asked.

The tread on my sneakers skidded against the sidewalk about as smoothly as my thoughts skidded into each other. “Not really. I’m not a big coffee drinker, but the shop’s atmosphere is cool, especially on Friday nights.”

“Nothing beats live music.” He kept his face forward, but the shadow of a furtive grin fell on me. “My car is that Acura ZDX over there.”

Was I supposed to be impressed?

In the car, he angled toward me right as he turned the key in the ignition, about to say something. Bass pulsated through the speakers. He reached for the controls, accidentally turned up the volume before turning it off altogether, and laughed. “How’s that for smooth? Sorry. I don’t usually have other people in the car with me.”

His brief flicker of embarrassment disappeared in seconds, along with the college entrance behind us. “So, you like live music. Do you play any instruments?”

I ran my fingers over my seatbelt. “I play the guitar a little, but I’m not very good.”

“I bet you’re better than you’re admitting.”

“What makes you so sure?” The question ended more in a snort than a question mark.

“I’ve seen you around campus. Off by yourself, playing where no one can hear you.”

My jaw dropped halfway open. Had people on campus actually been watching me?

“The way you glow when you play, you have to be enjoying it. So, it can’t be that bad.”

Heat swept up my neck. “Wait a sec. You just asked me if I played, but you already knew.” Start talking, buddy.

“Trevor warned me you were a little shy about it. I wanted to see how open you’d be with me.” He stole another glimpse across the car. “You blush easily. I’ll have to remember that.”

The charm trailing his words fueled my growing debate over which type of guy he was. Ladies’ Man, up one point.

“With all your time spent trying to make girls blush, do you ever actually study for classes, or is the whole academic scene kind of overrated for you?”

He laughed. “Just because I’ve noticed one girl on campus doesn’t mean I’ve noticed any others.”

Right. And Ladies’ Man takes the lead.

AUTHOR INTERVIEW

What inspired you to write Eyes Unveiled?

When I first contemplated writing fiction, three musts came to mind. (1) It had to include romance because that’s my favorite part of any story. (2) I wanted whatever I wrote to be relatable. (3) I didn’t want to write simply for the sake of entertainment.

As soon as I opened myself up to daydream, a scene fluttered into focus. A guy and girl, college age, sitting in the middle of a secluded field. The guy was playing an acoustic guitar, as much in love with music as he obviously was with the girl across from him. Every chord stoked her love for him the same way it fanned the craving in her heart to find where she belonged. Both fighting what they felt. Both wanting to make the other see what they saw. Physical and emotional tension flared in a palpable tug-of-war between hope and doubt, caution and desire, passion and responsibilities. And right then, I knew these characters had a story to tell—one I wanted to read as much as write. From there, I couldn’t stop the scenes from coming.

What made you choose New Adult?

I didn’t intentionally set out to write NA fiction. But the truth is, college was the best season of my life. I’d relive it in a second. There's something special about it. Sharing an extended sleepover with your best friends, stepping out on your own for the first time, discovering things like who you are & what friendship really looks like. It's when we fell in love like never before, and when we fell apart like never before. It shaped our lives. One of my favorite parts about Eyes Unveiled is that you get to relive those moments all over again. The laugh-until-you-snort moments. The heart-flutters-taking-flight moments. The on-the-floor-crying-your-heart-out moments. All of it. Doubt. Faith. Friendship. Love. NA is a dynamic genre to read and write.

What made you decide to go indie?

I started off on the traditional route, but the more I studied publishing, the more passionate I became about going indie. Along with the benefit of keeping the rights to my book, it’s a joy to partner with some amazingly talented contractors. I love getting to offer my books at a low price and still receive a fair royalty, so readers and I both win. And since traditional and self-published authors have to do the same amount of marketing on their own anyway, you might as well be compensated fairly for the investment. Overall, it simply made the most sense.

Why do you write what you do?

In a word? Passion. As an artist, I leave my heart on the page. Exposed. Vulnerable. Nothing withheld. It’s risky to bear your soul to the world, but that’s the cost of art. There might always be a part of me tempted to guard my heart. But there’s a much more compelling part that’ll never allow me to. Regardless of the outcome, I write what I do because my heart is spoken for.

What do you want readers to take away from your books?

My goal as an author has always been to craft novels that are relevant and encouraging. I love compelling fiction that draws you into characters’ lives to the point of feeling what they feel. The kind that you walk away from knowing the story just impacted your life. Beyond mere entertainment, they awaken dormant dreams, stir creative visions, and remind you that you have a story of your own to live. If you walk away with an emotional connection that touches and inspires you, then I know I’ve written the kind of story I’ve always wanted to.

Girls Rule Friday: Interview with Author Bridget Strahin (Blood Pact Trilogy)

A Human Among Wolves
By: Levi Kingston
Dark Moons Magazine

It’s a beautiful, crisp day. Golden light streams in through the windows around the small café—Crescent Moons Café—and bounces off the enclosed glass shelves displaying an assortment of macaroons, brownies, cupcakes of different flavors, and tons of other freshly baked pastries. Every table is filled; voices clamoring throughout the room as patrons stuff their faces with sweets and coffee.

It’s not exactly a place that screams werewolf but if you were to pass through Roanoke, Maine, and decided to stop by Crescent Moons, you would find yourself smack dab in the middle of werewolf country. Humans can come into town but they still have no idea werewolves exist. Today, I will be interviewing one of the only humans allowed to know the inside secrets of our town. The one and only Bridget Strahin, author of the upcoming BLOOD PACT TRILOGY, who depicted what happened to this small town in nowheresville.

The bell above the door rings happily, piercing through the loud chatter and in walks the authoress herself. She’s dressed in a cream-colored, sleeveless dress that falls to her knees; lace accents all along the chest. Her usual blonde hair has been dyed red and cut to just above her shoulders, spun into bouncy curls. Golden sandals with crisscrossing straps adorn her feet. Red glasses frame her face. She sees me sitting at a table in the back and smiles, adding a wave. I wave and smile in return. She starts to make her way toward me, stopping every so often as patrons call out to her, asking for an autograph or picture or just to catch up. A good five minutes pass before she’s able to pull herself away and flops down in the chair opposite me. “Whew! Sorry about that!” She offers then takes a deep breath and her warm smile returns as she settles into the cushioned, wooden chair.

“No worries,” I assure her. “You seem to be very popular among my kind,” I add and grin.

Bridget giggles and shrugs. “Can’t be helped when you’re this awesome.”

A waitress comes along and sets a cup of caramel coffee in front of Bridget. She thanks the waitress by name (Jessica) then lifts up her coffee, takes a deep breath, sighs with contentment, and takes a sip. “Coffee equals happiness.”

I chuckle and shake my head. “You ready to get started?”

Bridget sits up straighter and nods. “Lay it on me, Kingston!”

Levi Kingston: Your upcoming debut novel, BETRAYED (BLOOD PACT TRILOGY, #1), tells the story of our pack here in Roanoke, Maine, and specifically about our Alpha, Declan Pierce. How did you convince Declan to agree to letting you write a book about the events that just passed?

Bridget Strahin: Well, it wasn’t without effort. Declan, as you already know and readers will learn while reading BETRAYED, is a very stubborn man-wolf. I will admit, that I groveled, begged, and pleaded, and when that didn’t work, I threatened to blackmail him. He wasn’t always the tough Alpha he is today. I know things, ya know? Things his pack would never let him live down. He eventually caved. *Throws a mischievous smile my way*

Michael Week: Girls Rule Friday: Zahara Faraday & Becca King from Sons of Old Trilogy by Annabell Cadiz!

Actress Saoirse Ronan would make a great Zahara.
Character Name: Zahara Faraday

Age: 18 years old

Description: Standing at five feet five inches, Zahara has bright green eyes in an oval shaped face with demure cheeks and full lips. She has a head filled with frizzy, curly, red-orange hair inherited from her mother. She is slender built with nicely toned arms and legs due to her training.

Skill Set: Great aim with a bow and arrow, hand to hand combat with a dagger, can whip out a can of pepper spray on a moment’s notice

Hobbies: When she isn’t busy training or taking down evil rogue supernatural, Zahara loves to read, hang out at the Marshmallow Café, movie watching, or eating close to anything to do with chocolate.

Likes: baked goods, especially cupcakes & brownies, collecting books, hot chocolate, vegetarian spaghetti

Dislikes: rogue supernatural who harm humans, peas, mosquitoes, sharks

Bio: Zahara was born into a unique family. Her mother is a Light Witch and her father is a human. She didn’t develop any special powers though, being as human as her dad. Ever since she was a teenager, Zahara has been training in various aspects of punching and stabbing since rogue supernatural tend to go after her family and the human population. She’s never had an official boyfriend due to the challenge of balancing a secret world with a normal teenage world. She would rather send her day snuggled up on the couch in the library in her house than chasing down Imagoes, dream sucking fairies, or sociopathic angels.

Actress Logan Browning would make a great Becca.
Character Name: Becca King

Age: 18 years old

Description: Standing at five feet six inches, Becca has warm, brown eyes and shoulder-length strawberry-blonde hair. Her skin glows a caramel tone and she has a fuller build with well-toned muscles due to the torturous training her best friend Zahara’s family makes her endure to be part of their secret world.

Skill Set: Loves to wield a mean can of pepper spray, has been trained in hand to hand combat with a dagger, can take down a rogue with her sparkly pink Taser, can make an outfit out of anything

Hobbies: Putting together funky outfits, having movie marathons with Zahara, eating sweets, stalking her man Rekesh

Likes: vanilla bean fraps, brownies, pizza, reading, glue gun, sowing kits, shopping at Michael’s

Dislikes: evil rogue supernatural, vegetables, secrets, lying

Bio: Born and raised in Broward, Florida to a very loving and very protective father, Adam King, and a sweet, obsessed baking mother, Ariel. Becca is an ordinary girl except for helping Zahara and her family take down rogue supernatural. Becca can definitely kick butt when the moment calls for it and is willing to do anything to protect the people she loves. She plans on becoming a fashion designer and opening her own small shop once she is done with college.

SNEAK PEEK FROM INSIDE MICHAEL (SONS OF OLD TRILOGY, #2)

Michael and Zahara unbuckled their seatbelts and stepped out of the car. Zahara scurried around the front porch and around the right side of the house with Michael close behind. She led him to the backyard and looked up at the window on the end.

“That’s Becks room,” Zahara said, pointing to the window. “Mind giving me a lift?”

“Of course.” Michael stepped up to her and wrapped his arms around her waist. This time he kept his eyes locked on the window above her head instead of looking down at her, and with a thrust of his wings, flew up to Becca’s window. He spun Zahara around and she leaned forward, lifting up the window.

Michael helped her climb inside feet first, and Zahara jumped down into the room. Michael hovered outside while Zahara tiptoed her way to the bed.

“Becks,” she whispered, shaking Becca’s shoulder gently. Becca just snored loudly. “Becks, wake up!” Zahara whispered a little louder and shook her shoulder a little harder. Becca flipped over on her side and snored again. Zahara leaned over her, lifted one of her eyelids and said, “Becca, will you get the hell up already!” in a normal tone.

Becca bolted upright and smacked her forehead right into Zahara’s. The both of them cried out at the same time and Zahara flopped down on Becca’s bed.

“Zar, what the hell?” Becca practically yelled. “What are you trying to do, kill me?”

“Shhh,” Zahara chided while rubbing her forehead. “You sleep heavier than the dead. Be happy I didn’t toss water on your face.”

Becca squinted at her. “What’s going on? Is everything okay?”

“Me and Jase came to take you hostage,” Zahara said, thrusting her thumb in Michael’s direction. “We’re going out to do some hunting.”

Becca groaned and laid back down. “Are you serious? You woke me up to go out patrolling?” She tossed one of her fuzzy pink pillows at Zahara’s face. “I outta slap you.”

“Becks, just get up and get dressed would ya? Jase says he knows a place we may be able to get some answers to maybe find out where Lucifer could possibly be hiding, or maybe find some answers that could help Rekesh, so let’s go,” Zahara said, pulling off Becca’s lime-green comforter.

Becca yanked it back and scowled. “I hear a lot of maybes in that sentence, which doesn’t sound promising. I’d rather go back to sleep and dream of my sexy boyfriend.”

Zahara rolled her eyes and threw Becca’s pillow back at her. “Becks, I’m invoking the best friend clause,” Zahara said and Becca groaned. “The best friend clause states if one best friend needs help in a dangerous situation then the other said best friend will come to the rescue. You are my said best friend, therefore, you have to come to help me in case I get in danger.” Zahara grabbed the comforter again and pulled it off Becca, balling it up and throwing it on the floor.

“You just made that up,” Becca whined, sitting up in bed.

Zahara shrugged. “Does it matter? You know you wouldn’t want me going into a dangerous situation alone.”

“Why can’t you two be normal and go make out at his place while your parents are sleeping?”

Zahara ignored Michael’s presence at the window and the warmth spreading to her ears and stomped over to Becca’s closet. She grabbed a pair of black tights, a pink-and-white tutu, and a pink-and-white, long-sleeved shirt. Tossing them on the bed, she headed to the window and said, “Need you to wait below. Becks needs a moment to get humanly presentable.”

Michael smiled and instead of flying back down to the ground, he simply turned around. He could hear Becca grumbling as she started to get dressed in the dark. A drawer opened and shut. There was rummaging through the closet. More grumbling from Becca, and after a few more minutes, Zahara finally called out, “Ready to go,” and Michael turned back around. Becca was fully dressed now. She had traded the tights and tutu for a pair of dark-blue skinny pants, the white-and-pink shirt for an orange tank top displaying her favorite band, Family Force 5, and added a dark-blue vest, which was unbuttoned. She pulled her strawberry blonde hair back in a ponytail and managed to somehow perfectly apply makeup to her face in the dark.

“If you drop me, I’ll run you over with Zahara’s car first chance I get,” Becca warned, staring as intensely as she could at Michael.

Michael held out his hand. “I would never dare to drop you.”

Synopsis: Zahara Faraday looks like a normal eighteen-year-old and lives in a quiet neighborhood with her overprotective parents. She works at a bookstore and hangs out with her best friend Becca King on a daily basis. But underneath the normal lies a secret life filled with dangerous supernaturals. Zahara belongs to a world made of Light Witches, rogue Imagoes (supernatural creatures with super strength, speed, and silver skin when the moon is out), fallen angels, and Nephilim (hybrid children born half-human, half-angel). Where her father Solomon Faraday is human, her mother Mia and her Aunt Catalina are Light Witches. They help protect the human world by hunting down rogue supernaturals who commit heinous acts against humans. What they never expected was the possibility of having to hunt down the one rogue coven they had befriended and come to trust in their battle against Lucifer. Rekesh Saint-Louis is the leader of the most powerful Imago coven in Florida and now he’s the most suspected. Supernatural bodies are starting to pile up with an ancient ritual long forbade being used to murder them and the symbol, one large cross with four smaller crosses around it—which represents Rekesh’s coven— being left behind. Rekesh and the Elders of his coven set out to find who is behind the murders and clearing his name before a war between the covens begins. To make matters more difficult, Rekesh also has to deal with the return of someone he has been keeping a secret.

Meanwhile, Zahara and Becca are spending more time brushing up on their training, knowing an attack from Lucifer can come at any moment. Between patrolling neighborhoods and hanging at the boarding school created by Charles Stephens—a fallen angel who created the school to protect the children of rogue supernaturals—they are thrown into one battle after another. Zahara begins to develop a closer bond with Jason as they train and chase down clues to clear Rekesh’s name. What she doesn’t know is the very powerful secret Jason is keeping; a secret that will change the course of the fight with Lucifer.

But Rekesh’s coven being set up isn’t the only danger. A new powerful and lethal drug has emerged from the shadows of the supernatural world called Inferi. The drug has two deadly side effects: it leaves the supernatural hungering for blood—both human and supernatural—and grants them the elemental power they had once possessed.

Lucifer is on the move and he will stop at nothing to get his hands on Zahara and complete the first act of his plan.

A battle is about to begin.

One that may cost the Faraday family everything they hold dear.

Brought to you by TeamNerd Reviewer/Manager Bridget Strahin

Full Disclosure: I read this book before anyone else so nanna nanna boo boo!

Review: Michael starts off right where Lucifer left off. With Zahara and Co. doing everything they can to resume a somewhat normal life after the devastating realization that Lucifer is top side and hell bent on using Zahara in his master plan to take over God’s green earth. Zahara and Becca buy an apartment, are looking forward to college, and most importantly, upping up their slaying game. If Lucifer thinks he’s coming around again, he better think twice.
But--yes, there’s a but, Zahara and Co. aren’t the only ones looking to seek and destroy the big bad from down stairs. The Archangel Michael (yes, that Michael) is on a mission of his own. The only catch? He has to step into a certain Nephilim to do so. So now we have an Archangel secretly hitching a ride in a Nephilim, Lucifer who is posing as Zahara’s angel boy sudo love interest, and a slew of deep dark secrets that are sure to get the blood pumpin’ and keep you up at all hours of the night to figure them all out.
And that’s not all folks…
There is also a crazy on the loose murdering members of powerful Imago families and taking their souls, leaving just enough evidence behind to pin the crimes on our favorite Imago leader, Rekesh Saint-Louis. Is he innocent or guilty? That . . . is a very good question. One you’ll have to read the book to find out the answer to. *cue manic laughter*
Speaking of hawt Imago’s, Cadiz has definitely raised the bar in this installment of the Sons of Old Trilogy. Shirtless Imago’s, tattooed Nephilim, smart mouthed rogues, oh, my! OH. MY. Four words: Leanian. Without. A. Shirt. I just… I can’t even.
Now brace yourselves I’m about to get all gushy on you. When Cadiz first sent me the final draft of Michael I knew, knew from the very first chapter that this was going to be the best thing I have ever read from her. I can’t tell you guys how many times she would call or text me saying that she was beating her head on the metaphorical wall. Or how many ideas we came up with during our many many brain storming conversations that morphed into some of the scenes come to life in this book. Or how many times I called her after reading a scene to ask her why she insists on torturing me so sweetly and also to ask what the hell is going on in her head because Michael is a bit dark and twisty (you’ll get what I’m talking about when you read it for yourself). So you can all understand why I am beaming with pride for my bestie because not only did she step up to the plate in making Michael better than Lucifer, she knocked it out of the park.
Over all, I have never recommended a book so hard in the history of TeamNerd. Acton, suspense, loyalties being tested and broken, twists and turns, and an ending that will have everyone reeling, Michael is for sure to make everyone’s top book of the year. Oh, and speaking of endings, brace yourselves guys, it’s a doozy and hands down my favorite part of the whole book. Just when you think that Zahara has been through enough, bam! Cadiz throws in another asteroid sized curve ball and oh, the feels. Without giving too much away, I will just tell you that another angel has made himself known and he has major plans for Zahara. Soul shattering plans.

Synopsis: Have you ever wondered what could be hiding in the shadows?

Well, for eighteen-year-old Zahara Faraday, she doesn’t have to wonder. You see she comes from a lineage of Light Witches, those who have chosen to help protect and serve between the supernatural world and the human world. The only problem is Zahara, like her father Solomon, is as human as a human being can be whereas her mother, Mia, and her Aunt Catalina, were born as Light Witches. As a family they hunt down rogue supernaturals—creatures who harm humans or who have committed an act against their kingdom.

Zahara’s hunting skills are usually kept dormant since her parents would prefer she live life as a normal human girl without knowledge of the supernatural world. She plans on doing just that—except when she finds a couple being attacked by fairies, she has no choice but to step in. Before she can return to pretending to be blissfully ignorant, Zahara encounters a problem she isn’t the least equip to handle: Bryan Hamilton, the good looking new co-worker she has to help train. In a heartbeat, her best friend, Becca King, has set her up on a double date with herself and her new crush, Rekesh Saint-Louis, who happens to be the most powerful leader of the biggest Imago Coven in South Florida –supernatural creatures with the ability to control water . . . and suck out human souls.

Zahara has no time to focus on how she’s going to explain her double date with her best friend and the enemy they have a tentative truce with to her parents because soon one of the members of Mia and Catalina’s coven is found murdered with a strange tattoo of a snake with wings carved into his arm.

Zahara is then thrown into a whirlwind battle with an angel determined to have revenge against God, an Imago coven she doesn’t think they should trust, and slew of dream-eating fairies and powerful Nephilims, hybrid children of angels and humans, more than happy to rip her to shreds.

Normal just got a deadlier definition.
